My friend asked me to make him a logo for his upcoming website. He asked me because I recently have bought a legal version of Adobe Photoshop.

This is like my first ever piece done in this program. I followed a tutorial really close.

Please throw some constructive critiscm at me.

Hmm not too bad, the icon seems a little too big and it taking away form the name. Maybe either shrink the logo or enlarge the size of the text .

Nice logo. Looks professional. I agree that you need to either shrink the icon or grow the text. Over all 7 out of 10

Good use of gradients, outer glow on the icon and pattern inside the text

I really like it. But should it not use play symbol instead of a fast forward one?

Hi, I'm big on text and rubbish at graphics, so that makes my comments pure hypocrisy, but that never stopped me (or anyone else) before:

your "fast forward" symbol is a bit wrong - the arrows need to be centred

I like Macromedia products for that reason - they let you centre things much more easily.

Anyway, however you do it, when you change the "fast forward" symbol to a "play" symbol (which is indeed the wisest first-step to take, I reckon) you should definitely make sure it's 100% centred, otherwise your very first logo will prove to be imperfect.

Cool font. What is it?

I agree. OR maybe the text is fine and the graphic is fine but something else could be needed on the upper right hand zone? A little twist of some kind?

Plus the wording in blue probably ought to not have a gradient - it makes the text seem slightly faded... best not to do that, I suspect.

Your friend has got a **** good domain name, that's for sure.

here's an idea - just from the mind of a totally non-pro person with images... take your redesigned play-symbol, enlarge it so it's bigger than the rectangle, way bigger, but the arrow is still inside, then chop off what's outside it and have it partially behind the text and alter the colour scheme so that the text is nicely superimposed - that way you could have the play symbol covering most of the rectangle and the words across the middle

i'll do a wee example...

That took me exactly* 5 minutes to create on appleworks on OS X 10.2,

(in case anyone is thinking of mocking it for being utter rubbish)
*including attaching it to this post

I'm just trying to show you my idea for how you could lay it out, maybe. But then, I'm pretty bad at this sort of thing, maybe it's an AWFUL idea. See what the others suggest.

That lookes great, but you could take out the part where it changes form light to dark, and put in a Embos glow.

Your 1st logo is not bad, but logos means a icon for trade mark this things. So always when do create a logo always careful about the nature of thing, and also simplicity is the main thing, becoz people need that. And sure you have to able ............. awesome....

Your logo is great! I just observed that you used a fast forward image rather than a play image. Why is it so?

Well, here is some point:

1. The symbol itself is bigger than the text
2. A logo must be simple, and not use too many gradients.

I would say use Illustrator for logos.

1.)go for a fatter text so that it stands out
2.)Use more vivid colours for the fast forward sign; " >> " thingy...

please please just make that text bigger. A picture may say a thousand words, but they're not saying the right ones in this case.
