ok...to create a mask...2 ways,
1. Go to the bottom of the tools panel (just under the colour f/b swatches) , and youll see two icons, the shaded rect with the circle in it is the mask tool. Click that, then select your paint bucket tool, and click once on your image. Then, simply set your b/f colours to default (black and white, just hit letter "D") Then, if you paint/draw in white, it rubs out, and in black it remains (it might be the other way round depending how you have your masks set up...click fly out arrow on mask layer to change options).
2. Click the "add layer mask" icon at the bottom of the layers pallette, and use the same theory as above.
