I've recently switched from CS3 on Vista to CS4 on Mac, and today I've had a nightmare simply trying to select images! Ive had this with the lasso tool and when converting a path to a selection.

Basically, I'll make a selection, but then when I close the selection I get these wierd blocks that are un-selected. Hopefully the image below will help to explain. I've tried to select the end of the building, but notice how there is an 'L-shape' that has been subtracted from the selection!!

Has anyone else found this problem??

I thought I'd give it a go and I wasn't able to replicate your problem.

Try re-installing? You probably found the solution by now, no?

Same problem with other images? Maybe an L shape mask is mistakenly selected in the layers panel?

Tried reinstalling and updating with the patch, still no luck! I even emailed the blogger form the link I sent you but he still hasn't found a solution, he said loads more people have been emailing him with the same problem lately too... how wierd!

Think I may just have to revert back to CS3! Cheers for the tips anyway

I've been using CS4 on my Mac for a while now without any issues. But it was terrible on a PC. Like others have said, just wipe it clean and re-install. Sounds like it might have got corrupted somehow.
