Hi, A question for photoshop 7. When using the liquify tool the image is blurred when making an adjustment. For example, I was working on an image of a black and white checked jacket. When adjusted using the bloat tool the checks became blurred and didn't appear normal. Anyone know how to correct this?

Thanks.

Hi there, Im *not 100% sure* of your question, but Ill guess it!...whenever you use punk/bloat/liquify, you are effectivly "re-shaping" the pixels in the image. The higher the resolution of the image to begin with, the better the overall effect will remain. Before liquifying, try this.

Image > Image Size > Change both of the pixel width/height to PERCENT, then increase the ppi (generally from 72ppi to 96-120ppi) That increases the colour definition/capacity in the individual pixels, WITHOUT increasing the dimensions of the image. This might give you a little extra to muck about with, the next thing would be just to place a selection around the are you want to bloat, but to be honest, these tools were kinda designed with organic shapes in mind, not geometric.

Give it a go, let me know how you get on,

Cheers, scotia

a couple of things you can try, other than the good suggestion by scotia...

1. when liquifying, zoom in (control ++) and use a high pressure to keep edges clean.
2. If you've use a selection before you liquify, sharpen that selection.
