Hi guys, ive very new to photoshop and saw a picture in which a specific part of the photo had its true color from the color pic, and everything else in the pic was black and white. I thought it was a cool effect and i have some photos i think it would look good on of mine. I have photoshop 7, can anyone help with a step by step to do this? Thanks in advance.

Im not sure how you do it so that only certain colours are kept and the rest is BW but i know it can be done.

However, I know how to do it with a selection and keep that coloured and the rest bw or vice versa, hopefully yhe steps below work.

1. Select the part of the image you want to make bw (you might want to select the colour bit and do 'Select Inverse')

2. Do 'Select' -> 'Feather' -> choose a value maybe 50px click ok [this feathers the selection so it gradually tapers in the effect so you dont have a solid obvious line between the two]

3. Go to 'Image' -> 'Adjustments' -> 'Hue/Saturation' then drop the saturation down to zero and click ok.

4. Hit CTRL-D and voila

Hope this is helpful
