Hi,

Im trying to create a graphic text that has a transparent background.

I wish to lay the graphic on top of several different platforms.

I am designing in Photoshop 7.0.

When I save, I save as a gif.

I place on the page and there are white specs all arround the text that is reducing the quality to such a point it is really un usable.

How do I create this graphic and retain quality i would have if I have used a background and saved as a jpg.

cheers

Steve

Are you using text effects? i'm guessing drop shadow?

if it is a drop shadow there are easy workarounds.. posting a link to the graphic in question always helps

You have to create your text with no anti-aliasing, if you do it will smooth the edges of your text and create some pixels on the edge of your letters with fading pixels some almost transparent\white but not quite, those pixels do not become transparent, the edges have to be hard, no smoothing. It's hard to do without them looking cruddy. I've never found a great work around for this yet, so I just try to avoid text on images with transparency between the letters. Anyone know a good way to do this lemme know.

The anti-aliasing seems to work, although tedious. Make an image and save it as a transparent gif, then reopen the gif (not the project) and use the anti-aliasing magic wand to erase the extra white, when you save again it should be gone
