Hello!

I'm trying to combine a few images into a rounded rectangle. Ok, so that's not the hard part, but I have a few problems.

How can I blend in the background so that the images that are different matches? Also, how can I put a glassy effect on top of the header to make it look...glassy?

Here's what I mean:
Take a look at this website, Game Revolution. Notice how the header has various images but they (the images and backgrounds) all blend in well with each other? How can I do this in PhotoShop? Also, how can I get that glassy effect in the header? See the "shine"?

Now take a look at IGE. It has quite a similar effect as Game Revolution going on..

GameZilla has taken a different approach to what I'm talking about, but then again it's the same thing. A few different images blended in very well, and of course the glassy effect..

I'm giving you the above examples in order to help me better! I'm making a gaming site header, and need some desperate help. I just can't seem to master blending at all, perhaps there's some special technique or something I'm not doing. Hell, I've been guessing at what to do!

Also, the glassy effect, I don't know if PhotoShop has that effect. If it does, please tell me how to find it. If it doesn't, can you tell me how to do it?

Mini-tutorials appreciated. Anything you can say that'll help me, please say!
And, PLEASE, no criticism.

Thanks.

For a glas effect you can create a thin rectangle going across the images, in white

then lower the opacity so it becomes clearer....
maybe give it a slight blur

To get the the images to blend, put each one on a layer of its own, and using the layer pallette, add a new layer mask to each one. Edit the layer mask (I think it's Alt-click on the mask thumbnail ?) and use the gradient tool to fade part of the mask to black at the edge. This has the effect of fading the image to transparent in that area so the other images show through from behind.

Hello you two and thanks for your replies! They did help!
I also learned a few more things myself in Photoshop which is a great thing for me.

I'll let everyone see the finished product once I'm done.
Thanks again!
