Depends on where/how you're putting the color in. But basically:

1) click on the color chooser swatch.
2) click on the "custom" button on the right (just below the ok/cancel button)
3) select Pantone coated/uncoated from the "book" dropdown.
4) Type "185" and it'll take you to PMS 185.
5) click ok

Maybe I better clarify this. Basically I've been told that when I create any color in Photoshop it automatically comes out as a PROCESS color. There is a way to make the color a SPOT color by using channels - only I have not been able to find the steps to do this. All I know is that you must use the channel mode to create a color as a SPOT instead of a PROCESS color. hope this is more clear.

No problem.

To do that, first you have to select the portion you want to create a spot channel for (i.e. using the magic wand). After you make your selection:

1) go to the channels window (window >> channels).
2) ctrl + click on the new channel icon (at the bottom of the channels window)
3) choose the color from the color swatch
4) set the solidity to 100%
5) click OK.

You should now see the new pantone channel in the list.
