Ok ive spent 5 hours now trying to figure out why :- when I export my web design from Photoshop CS (optimised), and then open it in dreamweaver , some of the slices/images have thin white line spaces unerneath them. when i preview on internet explorer these are still there.

Ive tried everything I can, even messed with settings on photoshop with change the background when i export...

I dont knwo if its Dreamweaver or photoshop..but photoshop shows everything ok before I export!

arrrrrrrrrr If anyone can help It would be apreciated!

What format are you exporting in? The whole layout as HTML and images?
What do the white stripes look like - are they sharp edged and a single pixel wide, or slightly fuzzy?

Do you have any borders set on your tables?

If these lines are faint and only 1px high, around the edges of the images/slices they are probably due to anti-aliasing in Photoshop. I find that if I copy a selection of a page design I've made in Photoshop that I want to be a seperate image, and then paste into a new document the exact same size, Photoshop slightly anti-aliases the edges of my selection so that the pasted image has slightly transparent edges. If I save this out as a .gif or .jpg the artwork is flattened, by default onto a white background, and hence the white lines.

The solution is simple however - when you paste the image into the new document, just repeat this several more times (3 is usually enough) and the overlaid images will become 100% opaque. If you've already pasted the image, and assuming you haven't flattened the artwork, just duplicate the layer a few times and then remerge. If you've flattened the image already your best bet is to start over.

PS: If any of the images you have taken from the layout page are selected/cropped from the edge of a block of strong contrasting colour you are also likely to end up with an edge - the best bet is to always pull the selection in a pixel (or oversize the image a pixel or two) to give a bit of bleed.

... can't be sure - but if you look at the banner graphic at the top of this site, above the calendar button (when the site is at its minimum width) but below the white horizontal line you can see just such an edge (this one is vertical)?!

Photoshop often does this but I've noticed that if I export my graphic in PSD format to Image ready and optimize (html and images) from there the problem doesn't occur.
