Adobe Photoshop

I have designed part of a logo in MS Word and I want to be able to amend it by adding colour, style etc and generally play around with the idea however I am not sure how to transfer it to Photoshop? It is saved as an MS Word file, I am new to doing this sort of thing so any advice would be appreciated! Also, would Photoshop be the ideal program for doing so - if not do you know any?

Take a screenshot of your logo in MS, the way it appears on the screen, black on white, go with this screenshot to Photoshop, crop it and play around with colours, bevel, shapes, etc.
