Adobe Photoshop

I know how to send jpegs and gifs, but I am not sure about psd's. Do you have to send them via E-mail? Please help. Thank you.

Trace you can send PSDs through email, though they will naturally be larger than jpg and gif files. PSDs can get big pretty fast and can exceed the size that some email accounts will accept.

What exactly are you trying to do? You should be able to send PSDs the same ways you can jpgs or gifs. The person on the other end will need to have PhotoShop installed to be able to view them.

if its to big, you can always upload it on a server if you have one, and they can just download it from it also.

Uploading and downloading to a server is often how I've sent PSDs too.

You can zip them and send them via most messenger programs too. Thats what I do with mine anyway. Also, Paint Shop Pro can read psd files too.

Trace I think you can see that you can pretty much do the same things to send psd files as you can with gif and jpg files. The main consideration is that psd files will generally be a lot bigger in size.

Zipping them and sending them is easier and less hassle, but all of the above ways are fine, if I am working alot with one person I usually grab their msn and send files zipped via msn

It sends up to 100MB.

All of the above mentioned ways are fine. I personally prefer zipping them with WinRAR before emailing. Or it quality's not a big issue here, you could compress the image in Photoshop, reduce pixel size, image size or something, before saving it.

The point is:

*.PSD is type of file like any other (*.txt, *.zip, *.rar, *.jpg ......), and if You want , You can compress size (to get smaller), use Zip or Rar, and send it.

Try zipping, if the zipped file is still too big, split it and send the parts in seperate emails.

Now hold on...it's not THAT silly. A lot of mail servers and programs such as Exchange will block certain types of email attachments.

In the case of Exchange, however, PSD is not one of those attachments. So you should be fine from that standpoint.

Basically, I'd agree with what everyone else said. Send it if you can send it (file size is okay and it's not blocked at receiver's end.) If you have an issue, then FTP it.

When you save your file save it as a Jpeg on the dropdown box. Sen that and the person recieving the file can still open it in photoshop!
