Heyaz all.. First up, didn't know where else to post this.. I hope this section's alright, but if not.. Need a Moderator to move it for me..

Alright.. Here's what's happenin'.. For some odd reason, my Photoshop CS2 views all images much brighter than the actual colors of the images. For instance, if I copy an image here and bring it into Photoshop, it will see it way lighter than what it's really supposed to look like. This becomes a problem when I'm trying to create a website. Everything looks great until I upload it to the web.. Then everything is actually darker because Photoshop sees it much lighter..

I need to figure this thing out ASAP.. I'm currently in the middle of a big prodject for a church and I need to get this worked out. Any help would be much appreciated..

Thanks in advance..

Adobe Gamma comes with your Photoshop package. Go to help section and type monitor calibration.

Also... how are you preparing your photos for the web? How do you save them? What format?

Yep, sounds like your gamma setting may need some adjustment as well as needed calibration.

Also make sure Photoshop Edit->Color Settings are set to "Internet/Web"

I've already adjusted my gamma several times to make sure I was doing it correctly..

I changed the color management setting to Internet/Web but I still have the same problem..

Any other ideas?

*Oh yeah.. I don't think it's a gamma thing because when I go to save the image, it still sees the image as darker than what I'm seeing in photoshop.. I do have two monitors, but I previewed the PSD and the JPG file in Photoshop and it was lighter than when I previewed the same image on an HTML web page still using the same monitor.

Are you editing in RGB, CMYK, Lab, Multicolor, ... Just a Guess. Make sure your in RGB for web...

Are you getting these results from another computer? Or do you notice it right off the bat after server upload on the same pc you edit them on? I have to ask because I use 2 monitors when designing .

I know these are generic questions but, sometimes necessary to trouble shoot issues.

I'm already using RGB.. Also, I see the darkened image after I hit "Save For Web". From that point on, it remains the darker color due to Photoshop's lightness problem.

Oh yeah.. I got two monitors too.. And I have a spider now instead of using Adobe Gamma which helps with the colors, but it's still lighter in Photoshop.. I figured that it's not with my monitors, but with Photoshop itself..

Man... that almost sounds like a software issue. If I ever run into problems like this that I can't figure out, I try re-installing the software. What do you have to lose at this point?

Ok, I have read in several publications that you should either TURN OFF color management completely and stick to the SRGB workspace.

Are the colors the same on BOTH monitors and are the monitors identical ?

My CS2 (which is a new install) is set to "North American General Purpose" with sRGB workspace. I have 2 monitors also, but one is brighter than the other. However, my colors are consistent, as much as they can be, on the web.

Whoa.. I set the thing to what "LadynRed" has and also ran a spider program.. It's pretty much fixed.. I guess it was a combination of the color settings and the screen settings.. Thanks for all the help everyone.. I'll post back again if there's any other problems with it..
