Complete sub-noob to affiliates.

I've been a webmaster for quite a while now, and I've never used an affiliate program ever. However, I was thinking on it and I've wanted to try it for quite some time, but I've never had all of the answers that I needed, answers that I haven't been able to just ask. But, now I've found this forum!
My questions:

Many state the words "if you meet the requirements". These are always really vague. My website that I'm currently working on is going to be a business site, and I am going to be starting a business that makes and sells 3d models, and also does digital editing services. However, I don't have a business license (yet, and I don't even kow how to get one... or if I even really need one.). So, do I qualify?

Next: I'm a minor; do I still qualify to be able to do it?

Further: Income tax: What income tax might apply to money gained from affiliate programs.

If someone could give me answers to these, I'd be quite grateful.

First of all, even though affiliate programs may be closely the same program, they will all have different TOS. Only that will determine some of the answers to your questions.

If you meet the requirements... The affiliate program may have restrictions. Some do not accept affiliates if your site is not related to a certain field. Some may not accept if you don't have a certain amount of traffc. And some don't accept certain types of sites (like warez, porn, etc.)

Of course, one requirement could be that you are over a certain age, and it may want the business name. You'll need to check the individual program about that.

Income taxes... If you live in the U.S., I don't think there's a way around income taxes. And just about anything that makes money for you will be considered income, with a few exceptions.

The big answer is to contact the affiliate program(s) that you select and see what their TOS states. If it's not clear, email them and they'll let you know.

I hope you do well with it!

Dave

About the tax thing... don't you have to make a minimum of $600 before you count it on your tax return?

In the U.S. I believe anything over $300 per year and you are supposed to start reporting the income on you tax return. Many companies may also ask you to fill out a W9 so they will be covered on there end...
