Does anyone use a referral script?

I'm looking for a way to track referrals by users similar to the way one would track sales - is there a script (paid / free, matters little) to accomplish this, or am I gonna have to get that made? :1eye:

Does anyone use this system. I know it's been / being used here, but outside of a forum-type, does anyone use this?

I've been considering rewarding loyal "affiliates", but I would need to track their stats first

If you're asking how can you track referrals made to your site from affiliates? Then you would need an affiliate tracking "software". You should know though that they can be quite pricey, the following providers all offer the software:

Kolimbo
Linkshare
Commision Junction
Share Results
ShareaSale (this one might be the least expensive to set up and manage)

Hmm, I had looked into server-side solutions, without even thinking about these. My thing is - I wasn't planning on tracking sales, just 'referrals' to my site.

Such as if a person were to use www thesite dot com / site.php?aff=2928293, user #2928293 would be credited with a referral.

Now that I think about it, I think using one of these affiliate programs would be a valid choice.

Do you want to track hits a site is giving you without using stat software?

If so you would just use a databse with all the affiliates as rows and a hits collumn. Each time site.php?aff=2928293 is loaded the value in the hits should be +1ed.
