Hi Guys.
I am not new to Internet Marketing. I am very good at what I do and I am very happy with what I earn.

However, being a big fan of diversifying my revenue streams, I have decided to concentrate the next six months on affiliate marketing. I know from past experience and dedication to perfection that I can make it work eventually, but I want to have as much residual income as possible.

I am looking for some good resources from you guys to begin my quest into affiliate marketing. Some beginners stuff.

I am also looking for some 2+ tier programs.
Where did you start?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Dave

Start with Adwords first, don't look at 2nd tier programs just yet. The big PPC-> affiliate earners I know all use Adwords as their main traffic stream. Expect to fail multiple times before hitting your successes.

well I would say start with a good cpa program. I use ypn as well but cpa is a little easier to make $$ with imho.

Not to disrespect your opinion but I believe beginners should go nowhere near adwords until they understand the importance (and how to) of raising your quality score through relevant adcopy, landing page optimization, and most of all keyword research.

Also there are some other aspects the beginner would not even think about doing without some sort of guidance, for example: creating adgroups correctly, using brackets, parentheses, etc...

and EVEN then it's no walk in the park.

Cianuro, Whatever you do, I would not suggest jumping straight into adwords.

The way google has adjusted how adwords works even seasoned veterans were at a loss for a while by one day their clicks being .20 then the next somehow they're 1.40.

I have been at affiliate marketing for over 3 years and make a VERY good living off of it, if you'd like I could pm you with some details, I think I've got just the thing for you. (I'm not going to try to sell you anything, dont worry).

I've been in your shoes before, trust me I know just how you feel.

Have a good one,
Bryan

P.S: Paycoguy, I mean no disrespect to you.

Thanks very much for the replies and for the offers. please PM me whatever info you can. It would be very much appreciated.

I think I may have made myself a little misunderstood. I am actually an adwords qualified individual.I am very familiar with how adwords works and can of course see how it can be applied to affiliate marketing. I have only used it managing clients campaigns. NEVER as an affiliate. I am familiar with split testing and am currently mastering the Google optimizer tool at the moment.

Basically, I need to know what programs to go with (So far, I have been looking into CJ and MaxBounty) and what to avoid. I have a large network of sites I can use to get started on a range of niches.

Was there a book or a central website most people started from?
Thanks guys, you have been great!

Wait, question: Are you looking to use Adwords as your main source of traffic generation?

If you have the budget and you know how to use it correctly, then there's very little standing between you and a successful affiliate marketing campaign. Although I personally do not use Adwords very much anymore, because I have many methods of free traffic generation, that believe it or not generate more targeted traffic than if I were using Adwords. I mainly run small Yahoo and Adcenter campaigns as a compliment to this traffic.

I'm not sure what to suggest to you as you seem a little more experienced then your posts are giving away.

If you are truly a beginner, I would say ClickBank is most likely the easiest place to start. It just depends what kind of products you want to promote. Clickbank products are mainly digitally delivered, if you want to get into physical products then Linkshare would probably suit you.

I personally even after 3 years of affiliate marketing experience have not even attempted to work with CPAs, nor do I know much about them so you would be better off to ask someone else.

Market research is my thing... finding gaps in niche markets is a very profitable strategy I use... and there are so many gaps it's unbelievable.

I will be contacting you soon through pm...

gl,
Bryan
