Your question is so broad -- do you realize this? First of all we would have to ask some questions like:
1. What kind of list is this and what was the incentive for signing up.
The reason this is important, is because if you have a list of gardening beginners who received your "Top Ten Gardening Secrets" report for free in exchange for their information... the obvious products to promote
would be gardening related. So you're wanting us to tell you a good affiliate program to promote to a list of who?
I can however answer your second question. An affiliate program is good because it converts to sales.
2. What type of affiliate program are trying to promote? Are you trying to get paid for leads? Or are you trying to promote say a $47 product that you get 50% commission for?
There a literally thousands, if not hundreds of thousands or millions of affiliate programs out there. The only true way to find the best one is to know your niche market, know your target market, know where your target market is, and most importantly know HOW to deliver your message to your target market in a fashion that would cause them to act... and oh yeah, I forgot -- TEST. So if anyone from your brief description of what you do on the Internet, can tell you a good affiliate program and why to promote that particular program, I'd surmise they'd have to be psychic!

Bryan
P.S - I'm not trying to be a smart ***, but I'm saying, I or anyone else could probably help you out with just a little more details..
