So I signed up with Azoogle right, and went into my adwords account to create some ad groups and dive into the world of affiliate marketing. After turning off content-match, volume is pretty low, perhaps explaining why i haven't seen any clicks yet. But I'm wondering if my ad copy is good to begin with, so let me hear your thoughts.

I'm promoting this product: http://x.azjmp.com/09lvP
"The ScrapBook Club, the only book club exclusively for scrapbookers. Join and get 1 free book with the purchase of a 2nd book for $9.95 - Free Shipping and Handling and Free Gift. US and Canada Only Email, Search, Incentive & Web Traffic Accepted"
It works by sending 14 newsletters out over the course of the year offering the latest books, DVDs etc to members. The initial payment of 10 bucks gets the buyer membership plus two advice books on scrapbooking.

My ads for the keyword scrapbook magazine and variants:

{KeyWord:Scrapbook Magazine}
Join the Scrapbook Club Online! Buy
a book, get 1 free! $9.95, Free S&H
Pizard.com/ScrapbookMagazine

{KeyWord:Scrapbook Magazine}
Join the Scrapbook Club Online! How
to books w a new membership. $9.95
Pizard.com/ScrapbookMagazine

{KeyWord:Scrapbook Magazine}
Join the Scrapbook Club Online! Buy
a book, get 1 free! $9.95, Free S&H
Pizard.com/ScrapbookMagazine
(Destination url is different from #1. One goes to pizard and forwards to the azoogle url (if the url exists on your site, apparently the QS is better? Trying to get that by the pizard destination) , the other goes directly to azoogle's link. Will this succeed in improving the QS? Or am I just increasing loading time for nothing?)

We always go for a few ad's that don't use the keyword match variable as well to see how they perform. If you're targetting your adgroups well enough you should be able to get pretty targetted adtext without using keyword match.

"Scrapbook Magazine" also doesn't strike me an an over-appealing "click me and convert!" line. Obviously the top line is the most important. I'd probably try something along the lines of "Free Scrapbook" or "Scrapbook Club - Free". For something like this I'd probably play up the Freeness. In the rest of the copy I'd try something like "buy one get one at no charge. S&H is on us". For the url something like: pizard.com/FreeScrapbookMagazine.

Best is to try a bunch of different things to see what works best. Most of your adtext is pretty similar. My 2c.

Those are some pretty interesting pointers Jordan! I'm actually creating an adgroup now with the headline "Serious Scrapper?" and see how it performs.

You're right that scrapbook magazine isn't a super click+convert line, but it relates most closely to the subscription product I'm marketing. Anyways, I'm going to have a go with the freeness, but I'd like to avoid it at first in the hope the traffic will be better qualified.

The adtext definitely is similar. I got the answer to my quality score question so I think I'll try out your recommendations on the new ads.
Thanks again NBJordan .

Any other ideas?

FYI, for Adwords and Overture the Destination URL must match the Display URL. So if your landing page isn't actually on pizard.com, then you can't put that as your Display URL.

You should take a look at https://adwords.google.com/select/guidelines.html#C2

well, the link above points to some "smiley central" page?:huh:

if that is what you are promoting in your ad-link as well, then i would not wonder too much about a bad conversion rate

Thanks for the heads up, ghoti. I'm going to look at that.
