Hi,

In looking for a niche, what is considered a good amount of people searching for it? Of course you want it high with low competition (hard to find nowadays!), but what is considered 'high'?

For example, on Overture Keyword Tool, is 1,000 people enough? 25,000? 100,000, etc.? What is minimum to consider even targeting those people?

If you intend to run adsense sites,you should be targeting something in the region of 10,000 searches as these are certain to give you higher page impression for more revenue. Nonetheless, CB and CJ affiliates can earn huge commission per sale which case 100 searches can make you decent revenue.

Also keep in mind that Google consistently has twice as many searches/month than Yahoo does...

Personally I target 15,000+ (total) for low-competition niches.

It seems like anything with that many searches is saturated!

In our experience, 10,000 is just fine to get good results.

I would say it depends on your niche and keywords. I assume you are talking about the broadest term for the niche.

If you are targeting your audience with through organic search, then 10,000 should be enough if the keyword also has other more focused phrases or many related terms (think long tail).

You may also research for existing sites for potential joint venture, so you are not limited to how many times people search that month.

I have never really looked at doing a website niche this way just by working out the amount of searches done on that topic.

I just do a niche if I think it is worthwhile at the time and if it is an interest of mine. All my sites is an interest to me and is the reason why I started them and love working with them.

If you get a targetted 100 visits it could be 100% success.

7k and 10k work really well according to tests done.
