Well why stops you from using both (adsense and clickbank/regular affiliate programs). There is always better to monetize your traffic using more methods.Also you can make split tests and see which one performs better
i personally have a variety of sites and it can vary from site to site so I would say experiment with adsense and affiliate marketing programs - check your data reguarly and wherever you are making a better ROI. Lets say you get a better return on adsense, i would then say focus 80% of your ads using adsense and continue to experiement with the remainder 20% - as you never know when affiliate marketing may be better than adsense. sometimes you can see trends for example Travel, affiliate marketing may be better Jan to April but after this adsense may be better.

Of couse, there is no doubt about Google Adsense. If your site ranking well and getting enough visits per day so Adsense will work better as we can't say surely that visitors will click on yoru affiliate refferal and buy products.
If you wanna make money with adsense, your site content should be updated frequently. If you make money with clikbank, you should write a landing page, and then promote the landing page.
I think it possible to use both Adsense and Clickbank. You can't use another same program as Adsense. I find Clickbank more profitable as the commission earned per sale is more.

You can read Google Ads TOS, normally one ads network will dont want to live with the other have the same ads way. I think your site should not to have two in one. Just one but best.
