Time for Job site to make Ad revenue

Interested in the thoughts of experienced webmasters here regarding my own site www.redgoldfish.co.uk which is a UK job site.

We have a minimum of 120,000 visitors PCM which we are trying to move towards 300,000 buying in further additional traffic.

Obviously ad revenue would help us support this traffic increase as we are a private small company but we dont currently have any adverts of any type on the site and i dont know what type to go for or indeed how viable they really are?

I take it my options are adwords down the side of a page or banners over the top of pages?, i hate pop ups/unders. Then its who do i go with and what type of adverts do i run with?.

I thought about credit card ads at one time, but i dont see them that relevant to jobseekers who are the bulk of my traffic.

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Rich

Howdy:

Have you considered Google AdSense? That would be my first try.

From my experience, things like pop-ups and interstitials pay the best, perhaps $5-6 CPM, but in the right categories, AdSense can easily outmatch that. And without annoying your users - in fact, it helps them.

You'll need to experiment with it, though, to get the best placement on the page. Some will result in almost no click-through, others in a click-thru rate 4x industry average or more. No, I can't give any more specific advice than that, because every industry, every page can be different.

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated.

So just to keep the maths simple, based on 100,000 visitors PCM and a reasonable Adwords campaign thats relevant to the site, what sort of income estimate would you think likely?

Im just trying here to establish how viable these Adword campaigns are

I would suggest FastClick - 100K page views gives approx. $100-120 (depends on ad types you will be posting on your pages)
