And as the saying goes its 10% skill and talent and 90% luck.
I know a couple of lucky business people.

The strange thing is ... The harder they work, the luckier they get!

some people work hard, but they concern just on one-two or three services. The problem with those who fail is that they start making money on different services. There are a lot of affiliate programs which demand much time of membership to raise good money!

Digmen, You could not be further from the truth If it only took 10% skill or talent then anyone could do it and make a lot of money immediately.

Maybe you don't fully understand the concept of affiliate marketing or maybe you misunderstand what skills or talent is. The bottom line is you must possess at least 50% talent and skills along with a 100% work ethic to make it in affiliate marketing or anything thats important in your life for that matter. Luck has absolutely nothing to do with it unless you possess the talent, skill and drive to achieve them. Then and only then can you say you were lucky enough to have the talent, skill and work ethic to achieve your goals!!

Affiliate marketing is selling other peoples products/services for profit. But its not quite that simple. There are many marketing skills you must learn to be successful. And doing it right is the only way to make a decent income that will be consistent. Once you learn all the multiple things involved, the research, what to look for, choosing the right tools, how to use the tools, etc., eventually it doesn't require much of your time unless you want to get rich from it. That requires skills and talent. But first lets define them.

Skills bring structure to experiential knowledge. Whatever the activity, job, etc. is, at some point someone will put together the accumulated knowledge of that activity and come up with a sequence of steps, that when followed will produce an acceptable performance. Skills help you avoid the frustration of trial and error. Instead you learn to incorporate the best discoveries already made from the best teachers, predecessors, etc. into your performance. If you want to build or strengthen any activity whether it be marketing, affiliate marketing or creativity. you need to learn and practice all the relevent skills available in those fields.

Talent is defined as "A natural ability or aptitude". Talent is also the drive that makes you try harder, work harder to be the best you can be. The underlying factor is because you feel different when you do what you love. You love it so much it makes you WANT to be good at it. Not all talents are the same. There are many things that can be described as a talent in someone. It is not just a specific field of performance or creativity. For example a talent can be something intuitive like being an Empath or a great Communicator, one who is good at keeping the peace between family, coworkers, etc. or having a talent for achieving goals, being able to focus, even being analytical is a talent.

The point I'm trying to make is there is a talent to being good at marketing. Luck has nothing to do with it. And if you don't possess that talent or the ability to learn the skills to do it properly, then you're only going to go so far in this field before you grow tired and give up.

It takes time, focus, research, work and thoughtful planning to be successful in affiliate marketing.

You have to have a website that people come to (traffic) so that you can get some affiliate companies to use you.

I think most fail to succeed because they give up too soon.
The "fast money" myth makes people believe that it is easy to make $ online.
It is easy, but it takes time, effort, a plan, and consistency.
Leave any of these out, and you will likely fall short.

affiliate marketing is a tough business. One reason is it's filled with supposed 'affiliate marketers' who've become so successful that all they now need to do is teach you how it's done. This is the first mistake most people make when they choose to get into the business and it leads them astray from the jump. They give money, and more importantly time, to people who have failed at marketing and are now attempting to peddle their 'info' to the eager masses of newcomers hoping to make money online. True affiliate marketing promotes a product or service that is not related to affiliate marketing. Amazon comes to mind.

i refer to the other as affiliate marketing marketing ...

It is rather obvious, but Like every business you should be very good at some niche. A website with a vast and quality traffic is required(highly important!). Also, the quality of a promoted product may affect your business.

It doesn't happen overnight or even in several months. It takes awhile and it takes a lot of hard work and research. Keep reading everything you can on affiliate marketing and SEO. Be sure to sell good products and don't be flakey. Making it in affiliate marketing is like any business. You must be credible and sell credible products. Once you get the hang of it, you won't have to work as hard at it. But there's a lot of competition, there's a lot of shady people out there who are doing well which means that for the people with integrity it will take longer.

I think it has something to do with sticking out a plan. A lot of affilaite marketers can get caught up in changing their gameplan and doing all things that internet marketing can offer. They might get sucked into PPC or something else. Keeping your mind on one goal will allow you to be able to bypass obstacles and reach a desired outcome. At least, that's the way I go about my business.
