I am thinking or planning to start my own affiliate program, may it be services or products (in the near future after sorting out some minor tasks/problems).
I am curious on how can I track customers, that is if I need to speak by phone or email before the purchasing or whatever. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

There are some ready-to-use software to start affiliate programs, but I advise you to pay money to a good programmer and create software for your needs

How can you be serious about starting an affiliate service if you don't know the basics of how they work ?

I'd like to join a low cost affiliate service as a vendor/publisher.

Be aware that if you are starting an affiliate program you must do some serious studying on this subject and also be prepared for some ... let's say... a lot of work. Indeed, you might get to make money, but consider the competition before that and the need for whatever you will be affiliating to and don't forget that if you don't do some serious promoting and optimization, you will have a hard time in getting upper in the SERP.

In addition to what have already been said. You are required to obtain strong analysing skills when choosing what kind of product to promote depending on your website traffic. At least a good comparison between these two factors you need.
