So you get an affiliate link and post it on your website and some you can send as email. Can you just code some button's into a web browser sign people up that way?

I'm not sure if it would be a terms of service violation. Most affiliate programs say website in the terms of service.

So my question is what affiliate programs would be less prone to care whether a sale was generated by a click through from a website link or click through from browser button.

So I was building this web browser just for the hell of it. And I thought why not turn it into a marketing tool. I'm not going to sell it. I'll just give it away and make it ad supported. So who's ads should I put in this thing?

The term for that would is "spyware" or "malware"

Opera was "ad supported" when it launched, it didn't stay that way for vey long.

Oh no Chris I was talking about just adding a button that navigates the web browser to the affiliate link when the user manually clicks a button. Not anything that would change the user's system settings or cause registry problems or anything of that nature.

But yeah. I see what you are saying with that.

I hold pretty strict interperatation of the constitution. So adding anything that violates privacy rights is a no no for me.

Ok, so you are talking about the kind of ads that Microsoft and Yahoo place in their Instant Messenger apps, which are "lead generating" type of links mainly for the "financial sectors such as credit cards, insurance or banks.

Those, and ads from utility companies targeted to the users locale are the most likely to generate any revenue especially if the payments are impression led rather than click led, that way you should be able to hook into the rendering engine and refresh the advert when the user reloads or refreshes a page and every user action can be used to generate an impression where appropriate.

Relying on clicks from app embedded adverts is not going to be particularly reliable.
