Standard Internet, a veteran operator of CPC-based traffic acquisition programs, is shutting down AllClicks.com; effective April 1.
This is not an April Fool's Day prank, but follows a gradual termination of many of Standard Internet's programs. Several other CPA, CPC and search-based programs operated by the company were closed during a scale back late last year:
AllClicks was a pioneer in the mainstream "blind linking" market. At its height, the program was a very popular buyer of text link ad space and supplier of default ads to web publishers of all shapes and sizes. The program assisted its purpose-built destination site, ClickHereToFind.com, to become a top 1000 web property for many months.
Although the arrival of AdSense and a general uptick in interest for more relevant contextual and display advertising meant that AllClicks days were numbered, the program's actual demise is a fairly historical moment online advertising market, given how pervasive the program was during its pioneering years.
Here's a copy of the announcement that was emailed to affiliates today:
Quote:
Dear AllClicks affiliate,
Effective 4/1/06 the AllClicks affiliate program will be
closing. Please remove your links by that date.
Payments for traffic sent up until midnight 3/31/06 will be paid as normal.
Sincerely,
AllClicks.com Staff
