Hi,

I have a friend who has paid a great deal of money (nearly 10K) for a website however, the website is not 800 x 600 compatible, and as it's in ASP, and all the product pages are dynamic, it's not search engine compatible.

As part of his contract, the web development company said they would spend so many hours dedicated to testing usability across various browsers and platforms.
I was just curious how many developers also take screen resolution into consideration when developing an ASP site ?

It sounds to me like you went to a web programmer and not a web designer. Typically, programmers don't take too many design or search engine optimization issues into account when creating websites. Programmers are typically concerned with the functionality or the design.

A good company would take all usability issues into account, and browser size and compatibility would be towards to top of the list.

Next time be sure that you look at the companies portfolio to make sure that they can deliver what they promise, and that's why it's very important that you do research on the company before you shell out your hard earned money.
