I have never touched ASP before, concentrating on HTML and PHP, mostly. My client has asked me to take a 15-20 page site, of which some of the pages are ASP, and re-create it into a spanish language version (they'll supply all of the translation and I'll recreate some graphics and basically copy the english site).

Is there anything I need to be aware of with the ASP pages, or can I treat them exactly the same way I would treat the HTML pages?

thanks,
Tracey

traypup,

Of course to process ASP pages, you will need to run on either IIS or have an interpretation engine for other servers.

If you are comfortable with PHP, you will be immediately comfortable with ASP although VBScript can take some getting used to for anyone familiar with the syntax of PHP.

Of course your files will carry the .asp extension and that will alert IIS that it needs to be interpreted.

Did you have any other specific questions?

thank you for that info! I guess what I need to know, logistically, is can I open up an asp page in a text editor, or code view in Dreamweaver, paste in the spanish text where the content is, replace a few images, and the page will still work as before? I don't want to change ANY of the functions, I just want the page content to be in spanish, rather than english.

thanks!

I would think so, yes. If you have a working ASP page that contains English text and all you want to do is change it to spanish and replace some images, then everything should work fine. The content will not affect the functionality of the page.
