but I found a shopping cart online that I was thinking about buying for integration with my site.

Question is: I am being hosted by Godaddy.com on a LINUX server, and the cart itself is ASP

Will I be able to integrate an ASP shopping cart without any trouble on my LINUX server?

It will be absolutely no trouble at all. For one simple reason.

Can't be done at all.

not sure how well that's going work though.

Yep, been there, tested it.

There are a lot of things it can't do. So you would probably have to substantially recode an ASP system that had been designed for MS ASP to run on "Sun One"/ChilliSoft. Anything that uses a VB Object will not work, FSO & CDOSYS being the most notable, because there is no Visual Basic Runtimes for *nix systems
I tested it with a basic application which was a simple photogallery. It failed. And what it needed to make it run, simply wasn't worth the effort.

There is Apache ASP as well which is actually Perl scripting, so the scripts would have to be recoded in perl.

I figured it would be "too good to be true".

That's alright, i'm looking to make my own dynamic site w/shopping cart right now; based off of PHP. For a beginner, it's a head-scratching experience the whole way through, but I think i'll have a sense of pride the moment I finally put it up on the web (completed).

Granted, all of it's not from scratch; but I prefer working with PHP, while PERL is easy to understand, PHP is frickin' amazing stuff. The amount of things you can do, from my stand-point at least, is incredible. I don't think there's anything that can't be done with it.
