If your running WindowsXP, why not just use IIS instead of apache. Apache does not support ASP natively, you'll need to get something like Sun Java System ASP

With new technologies like .NET rapidly gaining popularity, the classic ASP will just fade away in a few years.

C# with ASP.NET makes a good start for the future.

Wouldn't it just be easier to have PHP run under IIS that way you also have the capabilities for the .Net framework.

I'm on a limited budget, so if i can manage with an open source option i would rather that. Also I'm a beginner as anything besides HTML, The main reason i'm doing this to to be able to restrict access to a site i am building. If there is a secure way to do this in HTML and /or Javascript alone i would like to hear about it.

PHP runs very well on IIS. It is the best possible option if you are on a limited budget. Rather than running ASP on a Sun based Server, PHP with IIS is a good combo. PHP with Apache on Windows is also another best.
