Any one ever use CDONT before? The server techs at a client’s host are recommending it to me for their Windows 2000 servers. I'm an Linux brat born and bread so I don't know nothing bout it or ASP.

I was given this page as an example
http://www.devasp.com/Samples/mail.asp

That seems alright, but it doesn't seem to mention a confirmation e-mail capability, or how I would encorporate it into a html form.

It seems a lot of what other scripts I have been able to find want you to put the sending e-mail in the html code as a hidden input wich I don't think is the best way to go about it (spam), or is that just the way it is with ASP?

Any suggestions on better scripts, how to get it configuerd, confrim email, whatever greatly appreciated.

If you're using Win2K, you might as well use CDOSYS. It's similar to CDONTS, just the newer version. Microsoft are phasing out CDONTS and it's not available in Windows 2003 Server.

Google still don't know what CDOSYS is...
http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourc...LD:en&q=CDOSYS
("Did you mean: CDONTS?" No!)

There's always the official Microsoft documentation, but I find it's written a little bit techy for newbies.

CDOSYS is actually the newer version of CDONTS. Both CDONTS and CDOSYS are available in Windows 2000. They kept CDONTS in there for backward compatibility. For new projects, MS reccomend CDOSYS.

WinNT: CDONTS (CDOSYS not developed yet)
Win2000: CDONTS (for backward compatibility) CDOSYS (for new projects)
Win2003: CDOSYS only

CDONTS works with Windows 2003 servers as well it just needs to be installed by your web host.

We run both CDONTS AND CDOSYS on our servers as we find that many users have a lot of mail scripts throughout their sites and either do not realise that Windows 2003 does not support them by default or do not have the knowledge to amend them themselves.

I hope this helps.
