Hey guys, My name is Dylan Vester, been around here for sometime now. I have been doing alot of research regarding content management systems and their benefits. What I want to do, and I believe that I could do this myself, but I would still want the help and idea collaboration of a team effort, is create a CMS that has all the features that you would expect from a top of the line CMS but one that is easy to use and easy to install. Here is a list of the features I want to put into it:
- Multilevel Security
- Customizable Layouts
- Customizable Skins
- WYSIWYG Editor
- Navigation with multiple levels
- Plugins/Addons
That is a short list of the features. All of this would be done in ASP 3.0 and have the option to use different database providers. I have looked at and tried ALOT of CMSs so I know what to expect from them. I also know that there are more systems than you can shake a stick at, but I don't think there is a fairly priced CMS with all the features and customization a user would want. The closest one that I have seen the provides most of the features that a good CMS should have is called SiteEnable and it runs for about $189 for a single licence. It's pretty complex and difficult to use and doesn't support rebranding it in pieces and parts (multilevel security). Which is really what I need, I need to be able to only give the client access to change the photo gallery, or only give the client access to change the new bullutins. I can not do this to SiteEnable without heavely modifing to code.
So if you could just let me know if you would be interested in seeing something like this or possibly helping. Right now I'm just trying to get people excited about the idea. Let me know. Thx
