Is asp a viable solution for building a site search?

If so can you guide me in a direction to learning how to build it..??

I depends - are you trying to search your HTML content or your database content? Searching database content is easy.... you can just use standard SQL...

You basically just construct an SQL statement like you would for selecting any other set of records, you just put in things like wildcards to search.

SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE Description LIKE '%SearchTerm%'

% is a type of wildcard in SQL, therefore it'll select any record with SearchTerm in the description.
