i wanted to ban ip address of my friends visiting my website,i
went to there computers got there ip address and banned it, but soon i found out there ip address changes every login and logoff.

they are all using broad band connection

so i banned the entire network -->"124.7", its a sify network

becoz there third octate also keep on changing so i had to ban the entire network
did i do the right thing?, it s ok if i luse some visitors, how many people are blocked by this

banning ip address is impossible to do, if they keep on changing, am i doing the right thing

we all belong the same city and also use the same isp, every 1's ip address starts from "124.7"

its ok for me, if people from my city doesn't log on to my website,

have i done the right thing?.is it the only way to ban unwanted people from the site, any other suggestions wud be very useful

thank u

Banning ip addresses in most cases proves to be futile. Usually when we want to ban someone off of out network, we ban by mac address. The are componets that you can install on iis that will reveal a person's mac address. You may have to do this a few time to cover all of the peeps computers, but it usually proves effective.

Another way is banning from cookies. Some times when you found your friends is visit your site and write a cookie to his computer.
