I've worked with ASP until now, because I have to do it. I think it's much easyer to learn ASP. On the other hand, for PHP you can find many free resources, which is great and make things much easyer.

For web aplication Php is better then asp.
Its depend upon the web server if your site is hosted by Windows server then php is not support to this server. In that case ASP is necessary.

For the case Linux Server- ASP is not support to acess the data into server.

If you learn some asp.net C# language and learn it will, then it will not take you long to convert that knowledge to php language.

Thats what I did, now I know vb.net C# and php (if you know one language they all are build up by the same basic elements).
