Have made some changes to the blog.

Thought I would give you all first shots to shoot me down!

New banner from Webmaster-Talk member. Changed my sidebar, although chances are that could change again, after discussions currently ongoing in the blogging forum.

Let me know what you think is bad, good, missing, etc,

Looks nice. Not sure I'm a big fan of the small excerpts as blog posts, but nevertheless, clean and sweet.

I agree, I think you should put the full posts (or if they're too long, half the post) because the content seems kind of overwhelming. The header is pretty fuzzy, maybe you could sharpen it? I'm not a personal fan of tabs for navigation on websites, but it's a personal preference.

I would suggest more color. The layout is good, but the visual attraction feels kind of all over the place, and the white over black is slightly irritating. It's just not as aesthetically pleasing as it could be. Also, the layout for single pages feels sort of messy to me.

What would you say the benfits are to having full posts rather than exerpts on the main page?

'grab our' in the 'grab our rss feed' was kind of hard to read. Dark text on dark background. Otherwise I wouldn't change a thing.

I like the design, very clean.

I prefer excerpts as i can then see on the homepage alot more of the recent blogs.
Maybe you could make the newest post show a little bit more text.

I like it; but personally i think it would look better without the black background. mayber change it to a really light shade of grey? but thats just my opinion.

Personally i like to have all the posts in excerpts. I like to read little peices to decide if i like it or not. Mainly to decide if i wana read it, but its a personal opinion.

The design is excellent. I love the new logo, its really superb. The tabs at the top are nice, but I would like to know where I am at all times. Highlighting the current tab would make that possible.

If you're going to have excerpts on your main page, I think you should probably use a "Read more..." link or something at the end of them to indicate that they are, in fact, excerpts. I didn't realize they were until I clicked through to check out the single post design.

I think it looks nice as well. Good job. I like the logo, except I think you've made it too blurry. More clear for the logo is better, in my opinion. I also don't like the smaller excerpts though. Good job overall. Great design.

I must admit davidshaw, I have never seen the site before right now. But, I like the look of site. I think the color scheme is nice and easy on the eyes and the layout makes the site very easy to read. There are many blogs out there that have so much "stuff" for a lack of a better word that make if very hard to find the different sections of the blog and the info you are after. Your site does not pose this problem. Congrats!

David,

Take a look at my blog right now. I use the WP Post Teaser plugin to show the first 200 words or so, and then I let people click if they want to.

My RSS feed is full (not partial), but the point of the full vs. partial for homepage display (for me at least) is the fact that it looks like there's more content on the page, and that the content is substantial.
