Labels, as well as backlinks and the like will not increase page rank directly. Furthermore, internal links can sometimes be penalised (if over-used). However, adding tags to your post so that visitors may find similar posts (future friendly) is a good idea.
I am not a fan of the theme. Compartmentalisation should occur between areas, not within elements. That is to say the post title and the post content are both physically and visually segmented, breaking the mental link a visitor will hold for them. This is repeated with the post data and comment link.
Unless content is regularly added/ammended within each day (e.g., hourly) like a news site or community, it is often unnecessary to have the post time.
The drop down list of archives is a click more tha necessary and a repeated label. A simple bulleted archive list or if you want interactivity (and future friendliness), a post calender would suffice.
I like the colour scheme, green and blue combined represent nature, which is reflective of your website. The advert schemes are disjointed from the layout and scheme though.
Good luck with your blog.
