Hi, I'm creating a free theme that I want to share with visitors on my blog, and I want to make it really good like giving them the options to customize everything without going into template codes.

My problem is this, I dont know how to make an option page for them because the theme Im developing has a featured post from a category ID. I dont want them to have to go into the template code to change it, so I downloaded a few free themes to find out how others did it and one of them that I downloaded had an option page to insert the name of the featured category. I need to find out how to do that... I know its something to do with functions.php could anyone help me out?

There are a couple of options.

The dead simplest is to set a cookie and use it to include a specific css file.
Next up, assuming users are logged in, is to store it with the user's profile.
Personally, I use sitemesh to do it.
