I don't know. Call me ole fashioned but I don't do this stuff to have fun or a hobby.

If you are building a business, it just doesn't make sense to not own your blog. Using the free services means just that. Just read the T.O.S. and realize you might own the content, but you don't own the blog.

What's that mean?

You can't sell it. It's not an asset.

So if you're going to do this for income or business, buy a domain (not a sub), and own your blog.

If you're lucky enough to know what you're doing... in 3, 5, 10 years you can sell it for many times over along with your website if you like.

If you're just playing around or have about 10 friends come play with you. Keep the free blogging options.

To a newbie, Blogger is very easy to manage and manipulate. Also, it is very easy to kick start with.

Yep, as above - it's easy to use and introduces all sorts of people to the option of having their very own online presence. I appreciate it's not ideal for the advanced user but it does have its purpose.

The main reason of using Blogger and wordpress to create a Blog is the only one and that is They Are FREE.
Also they have a very good user friendly interface.
