Hey I really like Blogger. My only concern with using them is that I'm afraid my semi controversial site may get shut down as I think it may be in violation of their anti-sleeze policy.

So my first question is there a CMS thats similar to blogger (especially in its ease of use)?

My second question is how strictly do they enforce their policies? I already removed the "flag blog" at the top my page, so hopefully that will prevent me from getting reported too many times.

If you've used WordPress and Blogger you know that it isn't the answer to the OP's question.

Noob,

If I remember correctly you won't get deleted even if your blog is smut. You just don't get listed in the "next" feature in the navbar. Though I've seen some adult blogs that must have been flagged but are still in the "next" feature. There is a warning page that tells you to accept it or not.

See this post on this blog.

And I've been looking for something as simple and effective as Blogger too for self-hosting and haven't come across much though the other day I was playing around with pluck-cms.org. It is almost as simple and easy as Blogger but I think like with all of these cms it needs a plugin or something to get SEF urls.

Well, Wordpress *is* a CMS similar to blogger, which he's seeking by the looks of his title (although we may have different definitions of "similar").

If you guys are just trying to self-host blogger, and have it on your own domain, etc., this post may help out:

Yes, they're similar but I think the OP is looking for something that is similar and especially as easy as Blogger. WP is great but it isn't as simple to use as Blogger.

Thanks guys, Mr. Brown I tried that pluck-cms.org thing and its not nearly the size or functionality of blogger.

You were right that I wasn't considering wordpress in that I meant a CMS similar, but also one I would run on a private sever.

I was actually about to shake my fist at James, but now I realize WordPress is something I run on my own server?

Guess now you all realize how self explanatory my name Noobstein is.

Mr. Brown thumb, it may not be as simple to use, but it sounds pretty simple compared to a lot of other CMS platforms out there. That pluck cms is WAY too simple

Thank you both very much for the assistance.

I think wordpress is my answer but I'm still open to ideas.

Where does this idea that Wordpress isn't simple come from? Even my mom is able to use it without any trouble. Writing a post is like writing an email, except there are a few extra panels on the side, letting you: categorize a post, have it publish later if you'd like, and other things that occasionally can be nice.

It really does install in less than five minutes, probably less than two. There's a built-in web app to edit your theme/template, or there's FTP ... and there are literally tens or hundreds of thousands of templates and plug ins available for free. Some themes.

That's alright, just as long as you didn't *actually* shake your fist at me .

From my experience of playing around with both of them. Noob asked for something "easy" like Blogger. I wasn't saying it wasn't easy on its own-but in comparison when what the only thing one knows is Blogger and is looking for something as easy as Blogger.
