I have a blog in blogger.com. But I want to create a new blog in WordPress.
But I don't know how to start it.

I know that i need to create an account on wordpress, what I want to know is, I want to customize a wordpress theme or lay-out. It is possible to me to do?

How?

Unfortunately, no. You cannot edit any html of the theme.
You can get a css upgrade and customize the css portion of a theme.

Your only other alternative is to install WordPress on your own hosting.
There you will have full control of all themes and layouts.

If you're wanting to use the WordPress.com service and have them host the blog for free you really will be in the same situation as you are with a blog on Blogger.

If you want to customize things more you'll have to download WordPress and install it on your own hosting account. It's not too expensive and in the end hosting your own WordPress install is probably the better option.

While you wont be able to make wholesale changes without an upgrade on wordpress.com, many of the available themes will allow you to change header images, some colors and add various widgets - so a unique personalization is not out of the question.

True. It's limited, but you can customize a few things.

There are also pages and pages and pages of themes available for the free, hosted verion of WordPress.

You can run an import routine, so it will pull in all your posts and comments form your Blogger account.
