I seem to be getting rather a lot of casino spam on my blog, must be around 70 posts a day, its starting to drive me mad !

Is there anything i can do about this at all ?

All from different IPs? Since you're running wordpress, you can also run akismet and have the spam filtered for you, if you aren't already.

Askimet does a good job of filtering out that kind of junk on my blog.

yes you can Create filter through Number of link in wordpress blog.
Means how much link will you want to allow and else these will be in spam Comments...

I completely understand what you mean, it's like a spam rush or something.

Everything was going fine, maybe getting one spam a day or so, and now all of the sudden it's up to 49, and each one has like a huge paragraph and 1000 links, annoying .

Porno and Casino are mostly spam craps.

Yht best thing to do is report them to google. That's not good anymore.

Here are the 3 best plugins to combat the spam you are getting:
1. Akismet
2. Comment Timeout
3. Simple TrackBack Validation

Comment Timeout is especially handy because it closes comments on old posts which the spam bots tend to target.

I have a popular blog and using these 3 plugins have cut down comment spam tremendously

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this:

Just implement a captcha program.

You know, the one where it displays a somewhat-distorted image (that a human can read but a program can't) and you have to type in the 6-digit code or whatever.

Bam, no more spam. And comments are still possible by REAL humans on all posts, even old ones.

Might be it set by blog service provider they block those IP from posting any comment.

SHOOT THEM ALL - comment spammers are a pain in the butt. They are getting better at trying to disguise it. I thought one was a real comment until I saw it ten times.

I got the same issue for the past week. It is not just casino, but ring tones....there is a plugin where you should type verified code under the comment form, but don't know what was the name of it.

Also you can make it simple - allowing comment if and only the person is log in. But you will lose a lot of potential commentators that way.

I try to allow freedom of speech where I can.

Also you can give a try with spam karma too.

Akismet is the way to go, but there are other tools such as Defensio that do the same thing.

If your blog is not casino related, just filter out that word from your discussion. That way, you won't get those spammy comments anymore. I found that adding words like poker, cialis, etc etc. to my filter list brought me MUCH less crap comments.
