This belongs in the blogging area http://earnersforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=41

But to start a blog you just need to buy a domain or sign up at a free blogging site like BlogSpot

If you buy a domain I would recommand using WordPress as your blogging software

And to make it successful try and advertise your blog and get people going to it, along with promoting your sites it can bring in traffic

But I would think advertising your sites outside of a blog would be easier

I started with blogger.com and just figured out how to graduate to WordPress. Blogger will get you started, but once you can figure out how to have your own domain with a blog, its worth the change over. Its pretty easy. I got some help, because I am a newbie, but now have the ability to do it again and again on my own!

Blogs provide a place to have current and up to date information. A blog is often personal with your thoughts and ideas. Blogs with regular quality posts get repeat traffic and more traffic and that traffic can be directed to a related site. Content can be taken out of the blog and permantly put in a related site to expand the site.

It's better to start with blogspot if you don't know what is a blog.

You have your blog set up in less than 5 minutes.

Later on, when you feel comfortable with your blog, upgrade to wordpress.

Hi everybody,

I have been looking at wordpress a little and I have a question I think I could get answered here.

How easy is it to change the design of your blog with wordpress? I used blogger.com for a while but I think the re-designing your blog was a little fuzzy. I can edit the html code and a little script code, so if anyone can tell me if there is any differense between blogger.com and wordpress.org when it comes to editing your blog design?

Thank you for taking your time to help me with this,

John

WordPress is completely customizable.

First of all, you can search for 'wordpress themes', select the one you like, upload it to your site, select it in the Presentation/"Themes" section and voila, you are on a new template.

Secondly, you can go to the Presentation/"Theme editor" to edit the actual HTML in different files, included in the theme. You can even edit the stylesheet as well.

You can't change Blogger a lot I heard, and it lacks categories too (heard that as well).

I'd simply suggest getting a hosting, a domain and installing WordPress on it (from www.wordpress.org).

both wordpress and blogger is easy to customize once you get hold of it, so if you are totally new to blogging and don't have money to spend then get a free blog and start writing, no need to get into all this "buy domain, buy hosting, manage accounts..." mumbo jambo. once you get the taste of all this its hardly a matter of few minutes to transfer all your old blog to new on your own hosting .

I agree with you Jack Smith.

I use blogger.com right now and will move it to my host along with everything else that I can.

Hi all
I haven't got my blog up and runnung yet but there would appear to be some very sound advice here on Blogs that will assist all us "newbies" in generating our own.
It's sometimes a little confrontational - great - that's what debate is about.
It's all good stuff - keep it coming.
Thanks to all contributors.
