MY new blog nhldigest. com is obviously a niche blog for hockey fans and I am starting to think of ways to monetize it. There are no ads on the blog currently and I get about 100 uniques/day so far.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Newsletter subscription for fantasy leagues or something?

Hi Skinny Investor,

You can strategically place Google Adsense ads on your site. Google Adsense works well with Wordpress.

Or you could join an affliate network and sell hockey related goods and services via links, banners etc. Might be worth checking out Linkshare..

I meant like a tips sheet for fantasy league players, maybe notifications of injuries or something...

It doesn't have to be all ads and links. Why not produce a product yourself and sell that to your readers?

How about ebooks on the following topics?

History of an individual team
Biography of players/team
Match reports/commentaries in audio format

You can also sell hockey t-shirts, But I think the ebooks suggested above would be worth a lot for hockey fans. You could be making a lot with those.

Very nice blog. The information and updates will keep visitors coming back.
Be careful not to make it look like a sales page. Try to keep the quality and find a few subtle ways to monetize the blog. Don't go over the top with too many banners and links.

I totally agree that I don't want to go overboard and make it look like I am trying to sell, but I'd like to make some money for the time that I put into it.
