As for the add question - maybe if someone requests for advertising information, but seeing as it's a personal blog - it's unlikely.

The reason why you should add advertising from Google Adsense, for example, is because if you blog about something interesting and people come to your site, they may find other subjects of interest, and you could be making some change to cover the cost of publishing your blog (if you are paying for a web host) and the time you are putting into posting great content to your blog.

I agree with a few of the others. just keep going with content and go for adsense. Thats what I did and I started about 5 weeks ago. I got a couple of sales already too!
