I see blogs that people write and they seem to get traffic pretty instantly. What is the trick to doing this? Do you have to trade links with other blogs out there? Can any bloggers help me, thx.

I'm new to blogging but I see wordpress has a ping option. So when a admin post a new blog, it's automatically pinging other websites.

Sometimes blogs will get instant back-links this way.

A lot of times, the person that starts the blog is already an active member of another community (like a forum or social network). So they are able to bring some readers from that other community, get links on their friends' blogs, etc.

"Instant traffic" takes a lot of work behind the scenes that you never see.

As Ghoti said, often the blogger already has a built-in readership on forums or other blogs. Others build traffic through pre-launch hype, linkbait or viral campaigns. Some use black-hat techniques to get thousands of spammy links.

Ultimately if the blogger has something worth reading then the traffic will follow.

Technorati tags and RPC pings definitely help, but they're no substitute for the factors mentioned above as well as writing posts that people want to link back to.

I'm also working on a new blogging venture and traffic is starting to creep upward daily after only a few days of being live. I'm working a lot behind the scenes (more than just writing) to try and get the word out...

That includes posting on these forums

Blog and ping has done wonders for my SEO and traffic.

There's a good article on Problogger (sorry I can't link to an url until I make 15 posts) that talks about getting traffic to your blog. All 41 steps take a good deal of work, nothing is instant.

There are different ways to get instant traffic. Self promoting way will not bring instant traffic, there are people who provide exact service for this. You can also try the Wordpress ping option.

you wont get numerous amounts of traffic straight away...heck you might only get 10 hits to yours site doing this. But its a good start!

keep blogging and add tags and pings.....for a better set up you could use wordpress....and add your blog to your site i.e. www.yoursite.com/blog that way each time your blogging and tagging and pinging you have a better chance of showing up in the search engines quicker.

the more your indexed in the search engines the better and the better se ranking the more profits you will make.

Yes the instant notification and RSS feeds are a big PLUS that help!

Blogging is an universally accepted method to drive traffic but the exact source of traffic is unknown. Already the blogger.com and wordpress do have a higher PR.

I heard somewhere that blogs are given high priority in Search Engines and indexed faster because they are updated often.

Maybe some bloggers out there could shed some light on the subject ?

Well on way to boost traffic to a blog is write a great article and submit it to sites like digg.com and hope that it makes it to the frontpage. Happened twice to two of my blogs and send in 20k visitors the first day and xk the coming weeks.

There is also stumbleupon.com and other sites like that.

not sure what you're referring to but tagging and pinging in normal blogs will work.....make sure that you target you keywords specific to your niche and you will 1) get more traffic 2) increase you se ranking.

overall you will probably have more success with wordpress but if your just begining set it up using a blog from blogger dot com.

Pingomatic, Technorati, etc.. etc... There's many vehicles that can be used to generate backlinks to a blog. If you make very good posts on a daily basis, they will come!
