I've just recently setup a series of blogs running Wordpress and they're filled with content and each one is receiving a decent bit organic traffic.

I am having problems though with the monetization, and was wondering how other people monetized their WP blogs.

Right now I only have adsense on my wordpress sites. I'd be interested to hear other methods from the other members.

Currently, I use two methods to monetize two different blogs. For my one blog, zerotomed.com, I use blog post sponsorships. Someone pays for a link at the top of each blog post. For my other blog, SciFreak.com, I use adsense. I intend on adding affiliate programs into sci freak to increase my earnings considerably.

How do you go about finding your blog post sponsors?

I am new to this whole game so I am signing up for all sorts of stuff to see if any of it works :- Adsense, Amazon affiliate program and online store, Zlio affiliate program and online store, Ebay affiliate program, ADVFN affiliate program, Yahoo stuff, I've also got various parked domains, but no websites, only blogs as I'm trying not to spend any money (other than domain names) - I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong because although I've had about 700 visitors to my various blogs in 2 weeks I've only had one click ! Is there some sort of unspoken oath that people take before reading a blog that they will will never click on any Adsense ads or sign up for any programs ? Or do you need thousands of visitors a day to get anywhere ? If anyone wants any further info. please PM me as I don't want to post stuff here that I'm not supposed to ! Apparenty there are some making 50,000 USD a month - is that from blogs or fully-developed websites ?

I make a post on webmaster forums such as one here I did and one on digital point. I tell them what my monthly uniques are, how they are increasing each month (which they are. YAY for my first month over 1000 uniques), and I tell them the 'expected' PR. I tell them how it can really help them and things like that. I just post on webmaster blogs, that's all.

Dang, my personal/business blog gets 300/uniques/ day and has PR and stuff and I'm making less than a dollar/day from the ads...

That's why I don't run anything other than these personal ads on my site. I figure it's a good business because people are always looking for a nice burst of traffic and that's how I can help, you know?

You could sell posts or add a permanent sponsored link to each blog post.

I would suggest setting up an 'Advertising' page on your weblog. List some stats and state what you can offer or am willing to sell.

Another alternative, check out Digital Point's Link Sales section if you wanna sell links.

Affiliate marketing, from what I've seen, works great on blogs. You should also check out PayPerPost and ReviewMe.

We do have some good affiliate programs that would suit your site. Feel free to PM me if you are interested.

My site is a book sales site + blog which uses Amazon a-store and associate links a little Google adsense, and template sales. Just launched in Jan 07 but already making a few book sales.

No money from template sales yet but I haven't really tried yet either.
