Many niche blogs, or one "brand" blog?

Hi,

I was interested in people's experiences with blogging regarding whether it's better to have 10 separate blogs on separate topics or to have one all-encompassing blog that talks on many topics, but has "brand" value, i.e. Problogger for instance.

When I say better, I mean in terms of revenue (or profit for that matter!).

Mike.

I think in this day its hard to make more general blogs appealing because there are many out there that are much larger and popular, such as problogger. When I start a blog I usually like to have a specific topic.

When I first started blogging, I blogged about anything and everything. As I got more posts, I found that I definitely talked about certain categories more than others. For those I created new blogs. Now, I start new blogs, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have started with one blog as it helped me build an audience.

I'll definitely go with one.. there's more potential for monetization if you can get it big or rank it well on the SERPs.

Start with a bunch of sites, then focus on the ones that stick. You could put a great deal of effort into a site and have it turn out to be a dud.

-One blog and get many section
- it is better to get one blog and have the time to promote correctly this blog than to get 100 blogs without traffic.
- if you have a blog for many topic, you can drive people interested to many topics

I think having a separate blogs on each topic is better.
Blogging on a specific niche works well on my opinion.
