My current permalink structure is /category/storytitle. I think it would be better as /year/month/date/storytitle. Will wordpress automatically redirect all my old permalinks to the new link, or will I lose all my current backlinks?
good question..
I've wondered if WP will 301 the old url's to the new.

I think you should still change it, it will be better in the long run. Unless it's very established already then I wouldn't bother. There's probably a .htaccess hack to fix the 404's.

Why change? Your permalink structure right now gives you the best SEO for your blog. Why bury your post deeper?

The plugin generates a 301 Redirect for the posts to ensure that your readers end up in the right place, and more importantly that search engines update their links so you don’t lose any prospective readers either.
