I'm thinking of getting my mother into the blogosphere soon - she could certainly do with a little extra pocket money, knows quite a bit on a few subjects I believe could be good earners and on top of all that I think she'd really enjoy it.

She's not an internet-minded person unfortunately (she uses EBay every now and again, that's about it) and dosen't have a lot of faith in its potential for making money (or at least that SHE could do it) so I'm going to be handling the technical + "blogosphere" side in the beginning, while she just writes. Over time I plan to teach her how it's all working behind the scenes and how the "scene" works, so that she can take over the whole thing one day - who knows, she could end up launching 10 more sites and being the new John Chow or something!

Was just wondering if anyone else had gotten an unlikely friend or family member into blogging or other "earners"? How did it go?

I've tried to get my wife into it, but she doesn't think she'll have anything to talk about!

I try to get my sister into blogging. But she doesn't like to write although she has a lot of know how can share with people.

So it actually depend on their character and whether they like to blog or not. As I know, not everyone is suitable for blogging.

Tell her to blog about living with you - that should give her something to start on. :devil2:

Trying to get my gf involved here....but as usual she is skeptical about anything "making money on the internet" as she equates it to "Scam" *sigh*

I wasn't get my family into blogging because they're busy doing their "business". I guess a friend or group of friends will get into great blogging.

nah really though, my sis has a good blog, it sends a lot of traffic to my forum too

i tried to get the wife into it. but all she cares to blog aobut it random stuff and doesn't get much of a following besides family... but i ahve tried to get others into it but with no success.

my woman wanted a blog but then she said she would turn into a nerdy geek like me...ha ha

My cousin is a blogger too...and sure there's gotta be just the two of us in the family that will blog.... For sure if I ask my Mom to join, she will probably ask "What's that?" and I'll just say, "Uhm ok, nevermind." It will be a long story.

I am interested in getting my mother in law to blog. I really think she can write and create a following in her area of expertise. We'll see...

I tried to get my bro and sis to blog but they still have no idea what they want to blog.

No way, it'd be impossible to get any of my family members into blogging, all they understand is email, myspace, and facebook.
