Before I started my blog back up I was very picky on which theme I was going to use on this site. I didn’t exactly want to pay for one to be designed because I knew there had to be some amazing free ones out there and I was determined to find them. The search turned out to be a bit more tedious than I had originally assumed and it took me quite awhile to find the one I’m using now. On top of that it wasn’t even a WordPress theme… it happened to be a extremely well coded template from StyleShout that I had ported to WordPress but it was well worth it. So without further adu I present you some of the best free theme’s I could find:
StyleShout
Style Shout has some amazing templates, they aren’t for WordPress but easily portable, for free! I am using a ported version of PixelGreen, but some of my other favorites on their site are
Enlighten,
Simple Blog,
Underground, and
ReFresh.
StyleShout is run by Erwin Aligam, a web designer from Calamba City, Philippines. His vision for StyleShout was to create and open source CSS gallery offering beautiful templates for free whilst improving his design and coding skills.
Theme’s by Sadish
Another great source for free WordPress theme’s that I discovered were
Theme’s by Sadish. They have some excellent basic themes that are perfect if you are looking for a clean, expandable theme. Some of my personal favorites are
Green Track,
Misty Look V3, and
iLoveMusic, just beware that the Misty Look theme was used by John Chow and quite a few of his readers are using the same theme so it is quite overused but great looking none the less.
Theme’s By Sadish are part of the wpthemes.info website run by Sadish Balasubramanian. Originally from India he now works for a software company in the US, Sadish strives to create theme’s that are usefully, stunning, and valid WP themes claiming that “he cares about doing it the right way.”
Thought Mechanics
This is an amazing resource for some very impressive WP themes, TM produces a mixture of simplicity, professionalism, and gorgeous works. Some of their best, in my opinion, are
Squible,
Alternate 0, and
Conestoga Street.

Some other great themes:This is a post from my old blog that I found while cruisen archive.org and thought it would do better here than going to waste there. If you liked this post you can check out where I'm writing now at Bloginite.com
