Is this true? Are there any exceptions? If not, I might consider using Blogger/Blogspot, since it's a Google company (and I've used them before).

If you are using Wordpress as a hosted services (such as on Wordpress.com), then you do not have the ability to customize Wordpress enough to add your own AdSense ads.

However, if you have your own webhost and you download and install wordpress software from Wordpress.org, then you can customize the wordpress theme and add in your AdSense code. But it does require some technical expertise and familiarity with PHP coding.

i think you are talking about wordpress.com as a free blog host. in that case, they dont allow you to put your adsense code. use blogger instead

Yes, of course. Why would they? Google doesn't let people run ads to lower the quality of Blogspot - they do it because they profit on AdSense.
